Nathan Burke, a former Los Angeles Jr. King, has committed to attend and play his NCAA Division I hockey at St. Cloud State University following his junior career.

Burke, a forward, is in his first full season skating for the Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) with whom he’s totaled 23 goals for 45 points through 46 games.

He skated with the Jr. Kings during the 2014-15 season as a member of the program’s 16U AAA team.

“I’m extremely excited about my commitment to St. Cloud,” said Burke. “Obviously, it’s a great school that presents me with an amazing opportunity.”

A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., the 1998-born Burke will participate in the upcoming NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, which will be showcased from Feb. 27-28 in Plymouth, Mich.

“Nathan’s decision to commit to St. Cloud will give him an opportunity to pursue his lifelong dream of playing college hockey and earning a degree,” said Wings head coach Scott Langer. “His aptitude and work ethic, combined with playing under the watch of one of the best college hockey coaching staffs in the country, will create an additional opportunity for him to play professional hockey in the future.

“It’ll be exciting to follow Nathan’s journey.”

St. Cloud State competes in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) under the direction of head coach Bob Motzko.
