Forward Danny Minnehan and defensemen Aidan Hreschuk (pictured) and Ty Murchison - all of whom skated for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings’ state champion 16U AAA team this past season - were three of the top 52 American hockey players born in 2003 invited to USA Hockey's National Team Development Program Evaluation Camp.

The camp, which will help select the 2019-20 U.S. National Under-17 Team, will take place from March 21-25 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.

At the camp, the 52 players, including 27 forwards, 19 defensemen and six goaltenders, will be divided into three teams. The squads will participate in on-ice practices and play in at least six games and attend two U.S. National Under-18 Team games at USA Hockey Arena during the annual Salute to Heroes Weekend.

The goal of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program is to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on U.S. National Teams and success in their future hockey careers. Its efforts focus not only on high-caliber participation on the ice, but creating well-rounded individuals off the ice.

Now in its 22nd season of competition, the program has helped groom countless players for the NCAA Division I and professional ranks, including the NHL.

Hreschuk has already announced his commitment to attend and play his NCAA Division I hockey at Boston College following his youth and junior careers.

Five Jr. Kings graduates have played for the National Team Development Program: forwards Robbie Earl (2001-03), Brett Sterling (2000-02) and Nolan Stevens (2012-14) and goaltender Thatcher Demko (2012-13). Forward Cole Guttman played three games for the program during the 2015-16 season.
