Former Los Angeles Jr. King Vincent de Mey was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Forward of the Month for October.
A sophomore forward at Northern Michigan University, de Mey ranks No. 2 nationally in power-play goals with three and is third in the entire NCAA with a 1.00 goals-per-game average.
He scored at least one point in each of the Wildcats’ six October contests (six goals for eight points) to lead the league in goals, power-play goals (three), power-play points (four) to rank second in points scored for the month.
De Mey tallied a career-high two goals at then-No.20-ranked Boston University to lead the Wildcats to a 4-3 victory on Oct. 19.
He tallied a goal in five of the Wildcats’ six games in October, earning de Mey WCHA Forward of the Week honors twice (Oct. 14 and 21) - the only two-time winner for the month in the league.
The accolade marks the first time de Mey has earned the WCHA Forward of the Month award.
