Former Los Angeles Jr. Kings Mattias Sholl and Cooper Haar were named the North American Hockey League (NAHL) Midwest and Central Division Star of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Dec. 8.

A goaltender with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, Sholl (pictured) backstopped his club to a two-game sweep over the visiting Minnesota Magicians as the Ice Dogs ran their current point streak to six straight games.

Allowing just a single goal in the two victories, Sholl turned aside a combined 46 of 47 shots in the sweep, which included a 26-save shutout on Friday night and 20 saves in a 3-1 win on Saturday.

“Mattias is in really good form and playing really well right now,” said Ice Dogs head coach Trevor Stewart. “He’s battling extremely hard and his teammates are gaining confidence in front of him.

For the season, Sholl, who represented the NAHL in last summer’s Junior World Cup played in Russia, ranks in the top eight in the entire NAHL in both goals-against average (1.91) and save percentage (.927).

Haar, a forward, struck for three goals and three assists to help his club extend its point streak to eight games as the Wings celebrated a two-game sweep over the Minnesota Wilderness.

Haar tallied a goal and three assists in a 6-2 win on Friday and two more goals in a 7-3 victory on Saturday. He was also a plus-5 for the weekend.

“Cooper has been a big addition to our locker room,” said Wings head coach Scott Langer. “He’s a mature leader who puts the team’s success first and foremost. Cooper has the ability to change the complexion of a game with his high compete level.”

Since joining the Wings in early November, Haar has 17 points in 13 games and 22 points in 27 games played overall this season.
