Former Los Angeles Jr. King Dustin Wolf was one of 28 players named to the preliminary roster for the 2019 U.S. National Junior Team.

The group is auditioning for a spot on the final 23-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2020 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, which will be contested from Dec. 26, 2018-Jan. 5, 2020, in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic.

Wolf, a 2001-born goaltender who was selected by the Calgary Flames in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, is manning the crease in this his third season with the Western Hockey League’s Everett Silvertips.

In 22 appearances this year, he holds a 16-6 record, including five shutouts, to compliment a 1.86 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage.

“We were able to assemble a roster with great balance of youth and experience and we’re thrilled with the potential of this group,” said John Vanbiesbrouck, general manager of the 2020 U.S. National Junior Team and also the assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey.

“We had a deep player pool to select from, and that’s credit to all the organizations and volunteers developing the next wave of U.S. hockey stars. I know (head coach) Scott Sandelin and his staff are excited to bring these players together at camp as we begin the challenge of creating a final roster that will give us the best chance to bring home a gold medal.”

Last season, now-Yale University sophomore defenseman and Philadelphia Flyers draft pick Jack St. Ivany, also a former Jr. King, won a silver medal with Team USA at last year’s World Juniors in British Columbia.
