Former Los Angeles Jr. Kings goaltenders - and former teammates with the club - Mattias Sholl and Dustin Wolf both copped weekly awards in their respective junior leagues for the week ending Feb. 23.

A member of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, Sholl (pictured) was named the North American Hockey League’s (NAHL) Midwest Division Star of the Week after winning both his starts as Fairbanks took two of three games in a weekend series on the road against the Springfield Jr. Blues.

The 2000-born Sholl, who competed in the highly scouted NAHL Top Prospects Tournament earlier this month in Massachusetts, allowed just a single goal on 40 shots in the two wins. On Saturday, he stopped all 18 shots that came his way in a 7-0 shutout. The next day, he turned aside 21 of 22 shots in a 4-1 victory.

For the season, Sholl leads the NAHL in wins with 28 and ranks in the top 10 in both goals-against average (2.01) and save percentage (.923).

“Mattias battled hard last weekend and he’s logged a lot of minutes,” said Ice Dogs head coach Trevor Stewart. He was very composed and played the puck extremely well.”

Wolf was named the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Goaltender of the Week after posting a 3-0-0-0 record (including one shutout), 1.00 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage with the Everett Silvertips.

A 2019 Calgary Flames draft pick, Wolf began his week on Wednesday with a 10-save shutout in a 6-0 win against the Moose Jaw Warriors. On Saturday, Wolf made 15 saves in a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Giants. The next day, Wolf turned aside 35 of 37 shots in a 6-2 triumph over the Portland Winterhawks.

The 2001-born Wolf has appeared in 41 games this season with the Silvertips, posting a 30-9-2-0 record (nine shutouts) to compliment a 1.84 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage.

As of Monday, Wolf led the WHL in goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts and was tied for first in wins.
