Seven players with Los Angeles Jr. Kings ties were selected in this year’s North American Hockey League (NAHL) Draft, which was conducted today.

Among those chosen were forward Hunter Sansbury (pictured) and defenseman Colton Huard, both of whom were picked in the first round; the 2000-born Huard was selected fourth overall by the New Mexico Ice Wolves, while the 2000-born Sansbury was chosen by the Jamestown Rebels 15th overall.

Defenseman Nick Kent, a 2001-born Quinnipiac University recruit, was taken in the second round by the St. Cloud Norsemen (30th overall), while 2001-born forward Ethan Wolthers, a University of Massachusetts-Amherst commit, was taken in the third round by the Springfield Jr. Blues (59th). Forward Chris Alexander, a 2003-born, went to the Minot Minotauros also in the third round (71st).

Forward Alexander Krause, a 2001-born Dartmouth College recruit, was chosen in the fourth round by the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks (94th), and 2002-born forward Thomas Stift was taken in the ninth round by the Chippewa Steel (232nd).

On May 12, former Jr. Kings David and Drew Vieten were selected in the NAHL Supplemental Draft. 2001-born twins, David was chosen 27th overall by the Kenai River Brown Bears, while Drew was picked 54th overall by the Wichita Falls Warriors.

The NAHL is considered one of North America’s premier junior leagues when it comes to developing players for NCAA hockey. It has also groomed countless players for the professional ranks, including the NHL.
