Brendan Brisson, a graduate of the Los Angeles Jr. Kings program, was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round (29th overall) of this year’s NHL Entry Draft, which was conducted today (Oct. 6).

The 2001-born Brisson, a University of Michigan recruit, completed an outstanding 2019-20 season with the United States Hockey League’s (USHL) regular-season champion Chicago Steel in which the forward was named the USHL Rookie of the Year and to the All-USHL First Team after striking for 59 points (24 goals) in 45 games. He was also a plus-17.

Brisson posted on his Instagram the next day: "I want to thank everyone who made last night a special one. Dream come true getting drafted by @vegasgoldenknights can’t wait to get started #sincity"

“The Golden Knights are getting a player that, first of all, is a great person who loves to be at the rink and is always looking to add different elements to his game; he's always looking to get better,” said Steel head coach Brock Sheahan. “Brendan has high-end skill and can make plays with speed and is comfortable playing inside of contact. He makes players around him better and can also score in a variety of ways.”

"I'm really excited for Brendan,” said Wolverines head coach Mel Pearson. "Our staff is looking forward to his career here at Michigan. We anticipate helping him continue his growth as a player as he looks to fulfill his dream of one day playing in the National Hockey League."

Last week, Brisson was invited to the upcoming U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp, which will be held from Oct. 8-13 in Plymouth, Mich. The camp is part of the evaluation process in selecting the U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, which will run from Dec. 25, 2020-Jan. 5, 2021 in Edmonton.
