Sholl signs AHL contract with Stars

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Tomas Sholl, who began the season in Slovakia, has signed an AHL contract with the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars’ top affiliate.

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Tomas Sholl has signed an American Hockey League contract with the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars’ top affiliate.

Sholl began the season in Europe with Slovakia’s HC Detva where he forged a 2.14 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in 22 appearances.

Last season as a member of the Idaho Steelheads, Sholl was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Year and also named to the All-ECHL First Team, leading the entire league with 28 wins along with an ECHL-best 2.14 goals-against average and 2,465 minutes played (the most in the league). He also ranked second with five shutouts and tied for second with 1,070 saves.

Named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month twice in 2019-20, Sholl was also named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week four times.

Sholl, who in 2018-19 earned a spot in the ECHL All-Star Classic while being named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team and All-ECHL Second Team, has appeared in 99 career ECHL games with Idaho and the Adirondack Thunder posting an overall record of 68-20-9 (12 shutouts).

The 26-year-old also has spent time in the Southern Professional Hockey League with Macon Mayhem and Evansville Thunderbolts where he went 14-3-3 with one shutout, a 2.53 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

Prior to turning pro, Sholl, who played his junior hockey with the North American Hockey League's Fresno Monsters, saw action in 19 games over three seasons at Bowling Green State University going 7-10-0 with two shutouts, a 2.93 goals-against average and .891 save percentage.
