Alums Yamamoto, St. Ivany, McGrew tabbed by NHL Central Scouting

Three former Los Angeles Jr. Kings - Kailer Yamamoto, Jack St. Ivany and Jake McGrew - were recognized by NHL Central Scouting on its midterm rankings of 2017 draft-eligibles, which were released today (Jan. 18).

Yamamoto was tabbed No. 17 among North American skaters. Now in his third season with the Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs, the forward from Washington has totaled 28 goals for 59 points through 39 games.

A defenseman from Manhattan Beach, St. Ivany (pictured) was listed No. 94. In this his first season with the United States Hockey League’s (USHL) Sioux Falls Stampede, St. Ivany has collected seven assists through 28 games.

St. Ivany, a member of the Jr. Kings’ 16U AAA Pacific District-championship team a season ago, has committed to attend and play his NCAA Division I hockey at Yale University following his junior career.

Also a member of L.A.'s 16U AAA team last year, McGrew, a forward from Orange, was recognized as a "Limted Viewing" skater. He has yet to play a game in this his first season with Spokane because of injury.

Earlier this month, Yamamoto participated in the Canadian Hockey League/NHL Top Prospects Game, while St. Ivany competed the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

NHL Central Scouting will release its final rankings of 2017 draft-eligibles in April.

The 2017 NHL Entry Draft will be conducted on June 23-24 in Chicago.
