Thirty-three Los Angeles Jr. Kings and LA Lions players represented the Los Angeles Kings and the NHL at this year’s Rose Parade, which was showcased on Monday (Jan. 2) in Pasadena prior the Rose Bowl college football game.

To help celebrate the NHL’s 100th anniversary season and the Kings’ 50th, the players were stationed on the “Century of NHL Greatness Float” donning the jerseys of all 30 NHL clubs.

The Kings’ president of business operations Luc Robitaille - also a Jr. Kings board member - and Bob Miller, the television play-by-play announcer for the Kings, also greeted spectators from the float.

“It was an exciting morning to say the least, and encouraging to see so much participation from the players and their families,” said Kings rink account executive of hockey development John Abary, who helped facilitate the Jr. Kings’ involvement. “We really appreciate the Jr. Kings and Lions getting behind this effort; it was an ideal way to help expose not just the Kings, but the entire sport of hockey on a local level.”

The Jr. Kings and Lions (the Kings-backed girls program) players who participated included: Sydnee-Anne Moeller, Faith Desemone, Ben Asshoff, Gabriel Altieri, Jezebel Bush, Judy Meyer, Sabrina Swartz, Brooke Charleton, Dena Contreras, Samiya Cooke, Riley Lewis, Meg Dillman, Amanda Campbell, Michael Karvelas, Michael Schwartz, James Mastrosimone, Evan Konyen, Hudson Small, Zane Rowan, Max Baker, Jordy Brisson, Jimmy Jones, Jeremy Dubé, Jefferson Coffin, Sebastien Brockman, Justin Scarborough, Mason Bowley, Noah Jamani, Taylor Hirsch, Noah Alvarez, Andrei Gasseau, Brandon Plaga and Trevor Small.

Gasseau, a forward on the Jr. Kings’ 2003 Bantam Minor AAA team, was honored to be a part of the festivities.

“It was an awesome experience,” said Gasseau. “It’s cool to represent the Kings and the NHL, and even more so in front of so many people at such a prestigious and celebrated event.”
