The entire Los Angeles Jr. Kings organization extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kim Nichols - the mother of former Jr. Kings player Lucas Nichols - who passed away on Dec. 20 in Michigan after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

When Kim and her husband, Craig, moved from California to Michigan over three years ago, they were devoted to raising and spending time with their family. While residing in California, she attended Hilltop Church of Christ with her family. She worked for 27 years as an administrative assistant at Chevron Refinery in El Segundo, where she also met Craig.

Kim enjoyed watching Lucas play hockey first with the Jr. Kings and then, after moving to Michigan, became a part of the loving Compuware hockey family. She was a true hockey fan; her favorite team was the Los Angeles Kings.

In addition to her love for hockey, Kim was also very proud of her daughter Ashley’s scholastic achievements while attending college. As a family, they enjoyed RV camping, being outdoors, traveling, taking cruises, waterskiing and spending time with friends.

Kim will be sadly missed and always remembered for having a warm smile.

In addition to a service in Michigan on Jan. 21, there will be a memorial celebration on Feb. 18 between the hours of 4-8 p.m. at the Chevron Park Clubhouse in El Segundo.

Memorial consideration in Kim’s name can be directed to: Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Ste. 200, Manhattan Beach, CA, 90266 (www.pancan.org) or The National Pancreas Cancer Foundation, 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Ste. 700. Bethesda, MD, 20814 (www.pancreasfoundation.org).

Envelopes will be available at their home and in El Segundo.

Arrangements have been entrusted to: Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 W. Ann Arbor Rd., Plymouth, MI, 48170; (734) 459-2250
