Former Los Angeles Jr. King Kailer Yamamoto has been selected to compete in the upcoming Canadian Hockey League (CHL)/NHL Top Prospects Game, which will be showcased in Quebec City on Jan. 30, 2017.

Now in his third season with the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Spokane Chiefs, the forward from Washington was tied for 16th in league scoring with 41 points on 20 goals through 26 games this year.

The 40 CHL players competing in the Top Prospects Game were chosen by all 30 NHL clubs and divided into teams by NHL Central Scouting. This season’s event marks the 22nd annual showcase of the CHL’s top-40 NHL Entry Draft-eligible players featuring talent from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League and WHL competing before hundreds of NHL scouts in attendance.

NHL Central Scouting tabbed Yamamoto an A-rated prospect - a potential first-round selection - on its preliminary “Players to Watch” list of 2017 draft-eligibles, which was released in October.
