Four players with Los Angeles Jr. Kings ties - forwards Kailer Yamamoto and Jake McGrew, defenseman Jack St. Ivany and goaltender Evan Sarthou - were recognized by NHL Central Scouting on its preliminary “Players to Watch” list of 2017 draft-eligibles, which was released today.

Yamamoto, a Washington native now in his third season with the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Spokane Chiefs, was tabbed an A-rated prospect - a potential first-round selection.

Both members of the Jr. Kings’ Pacific District champion 16U AAA team last season, McGrew, who’s in his first year with Spokane, and St. Ivany, a Yale University recruit patrolling the blue line for the United States Hockey League’s Sioux Falls Stampede, are listed as C-rated prospects (potential fourth-, fifth- or sixth-round draft candidates).

Sarthou, also from Washington, is in his fourth season with the WHL’s Tri-City Americans. He’s also a C-rated prospect.

NHL Central Scouting will release its midseason rankings of 2017 draft-eligibles in January, followed by its final rankings in April.

The 2017 NHL Entry Draft will be conducted on June 23-24 in Chicago.
