Alum Yamamoto signs with NHL's Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers have signed 2017 first-round NHL Entry Draft selection Kailer Yamamoto, a former Los Angeles Jr. King, to a three-year entry-level contract.

The Edmonton Oilers have signed 2017 first-round NHL Entry Draft selection Kailer Yamamoto, a former Los Angeles Jr. King, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Yamamoto, picked 22nd overall by the club, appeared in 65 games for the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Spokane Chiefs last season, posting 99 points (42 goals) to go along with a plus-14 rating.

The 5-foot-8, 153-pound forward from Washington has appeared in 190 career WHL games, racking up 227 points on 84 goals. He's also played in 12 postseason games, recording 10 points (three goals).
