Grad Yamamoto makes NHL debut with Oilers

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Kailer Yamamoto made his NHL debut last night (Oct. 11) as a member of the Edmonton Oilers in their 3-0 victory over the Calgary Flames.

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Kailer Yamamoto made his NHL debut last night (Oct. 11) as a member of the Edmonton Oilers in their 3-0 victory over the Calgary Flames.

Earlier this year, the Oilers signed Yamamoto, who was picked in the first-round by the club in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft (22nd overall), to a three-year entry-level contract.

Yamamoto appeared in 65 games for the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Spokane Chiefs last season, posting 99 points (42 goals) to go along with a plus-14 rating.

The 5-foot-8, 153-pound forward from Washington appeared in 190 career WHL games, racking up 227 points on 84 goals. He also played in 12 postseason games, recording 10 points (three goals).
