Former Los Angeles Jr. King Tomas Sholl has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending March 18.

It marks the second consecutive week Sholl, a rookie goaltender with the Idaho Steelheads, has received the honor.

Sholl is the first goaltender to earn the award in back-to-back weeks since December of 2016 when Allen Americans goaltender Riley Gill accomplished the feat.

Sholl is the first Steelhead ever to win the award in consecutive weeks and the first to win it twice in a season since Jack Campbell - now a member of the Los Angeles Kings - was twice named Goaltender of the Week in the span of a month between Jan. 18-Feb. 14 of 2016.

Sholl, 23, earned consecutive shutouts last week on the road against the South Carolina Stingrays marking the first two shutouts of his ECHL career. He stopped all 32 shots he faced on Thursday against the Stingrays in a 3-0 victory, followed by a 28-save shutout on Friday in a 1-0 triumph.

Thanks to his 60-save week, Sholl became the first goaltender this season to defeat the Stingrays in regulation in back-to-back games. He hasn’t surrendered a goal in 152:24.

The Hermosa Beach native was acquired by the Steelheads on Feb. 28 after spending the first month of his ECHL career with the Adirondack Thunder. With the Steelheads, Sholl holds a 3-0-1 record with two shutouts, a 0.72 goals-against average and .974 save percentage in four appearances, stopping 114 of 117 shots faced.

Sholl remains unbeaten in regulation during his ECHL career with an 8-0-2 overall record to compliment a 1.55 goals-against average and .951 save percentage in 12 appearances.

Sholl started the season in the Southern Professional Hockey League, appearing in 20 games with the Macon Mayhem and Evansville Thunderbolts and posting a 14-3-3 record, including a shutout, along with a 2.52 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

Prior to turning pro, Sholl played three years of NCAA Division I hockey at Bowling Green State University where he fashioned a 7-10-0 record, including two shutouts, to go along with a 3.93 goals-against average and .891 save percentage. He was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team in 2016.
