Former Los Angeles Jr. King Tomas Sholl has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for the month of March.

A rookie goaltender for the Idaho Steelheads, Sholl forged an impressive 8-0-1 record in March, including eight consecutive wins and four shutouts (his four shutouts came in a span of six starts).

He played to a sterling 0.87 goals-against average and .965 save percentage during the month while holding opponents to two goals or less in each of his nine appearances.

The 23-year-old earned the award after being named the ECHL’s Goaltender of the Week consecutively from March 5-18, followed by a runner-up effort the following week.

Sholl became the first Steelheads goaltender ever to win the award in consecutive weeks and just the third Steelhead ever to win twice in one season (Jack Campbell - now a member of the Los Angeles Kings - was the other).

The Hermosa Beach native was acquired by the Steelheads on Feb. 28 after spending the first month of his ECHL career with the Adirondack Thunder.

Sholl remains unbeaten in regulation during his ECHL career with a 13-0-2 overall record to compliment a stingy 1.37 goals-against average and .952 save percentage in 17 appearances.

Sholl started the season in the Southern Professional Hockey League, appearing in 20 games with the Macon Mayhem and Evansville Thunderbolts and posting a 14-3-3 record, including a shutout, along with a 2.52 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.

Prior to turning pro, Sholl played three years of NCAA Division I hockey at Bowling Green State University where he fashioned a 7-10-0 record, including two shutouts, to go along with a 3.93 goals-against average and .891 save percentage. He was named to the WCHA All-Academic Team in 2016.
