Former Los Angeles Jr. King Jake McGrew was one of 42 players invited by USA Hockey to participate in the upcoming World Junior Summer Showcase, which will be held from July 28-Aug. 4 in Kamloops, British Columbia.

The players will audition for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2019 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, which will be showcased from Dec. 26, 2018 through Jan. 5, 2019, in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia.

Last season, McGrew, a 1999-born forward, totaled 19 goals for 38 points in 65 regular-season games with the Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs. In seven postseason contests, he rang up two goals and four assists.

After being sidelined the entire 2016-17 season recovering from knee surgery, the San Jose Sharks selected McGrew in the sixth round of last year’s NHL Entry Draft.

The weeklong World Junior Summer Showcase will include 11 international competitions between Canada, Finland, Sweden and the United States.
