Murphy Stratton, a former Los Angeles Jr. King, was invited to participate in the Los Angeles Kings’ upcoming Development Camp, which will be held from June 26-29 at Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.

A non-roster camp invite, Stratton celebrated a British Columbia Hockey League championship last season as a member of the Wenatchee Wild - a team that included five Jr. Kings graduates.

Stratton, a 1999-born forward, struck for 16 goals for 53 points in 54 regular-season games last year. In the postseason, the 6-foot-4, 192-pounder connected for a goal and six assists in 18 contests.

The Los Angeles native played his first season of junior with the Western Hockey League’s  (WHL) Calgary Hitmen - the team that selected the 6-foot-4, 192-pounder in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

In his final season with the Jr. Kings in 2015-16, Stratton helped the program’s 16U AAA team capture a Pacific District championship. That squad included 2017 NHL draft picks Cole Guttman (Tampa Bay Lightning) and Jake McGrew (San Jose Sharks) - both forwards - as well as defenseman Jack St. Ivany, who was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in this year’s NHL Entry Draft.

The Development Camp roster includes players in the Kings system, players who have been drafted but not signed by the Kings and other non-roster camp invites.

Forward Evan Weinger, a former Jr. King who signed an American Hockey League contract with the San Jose Barracuda - the San Jose Sharks' top affiliate - in March, participated in last year’s Kings Development Camp as a non-roster invite. Weinger, from El Segundo, enjoyed a successful 2017-18 campaign with the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings.
