14U A, 12U AA2 teams win Confetti Cup titles

Both the Los Angeles Jr. Kings’ 14U A and 12U AA2 teams celebrated championships in their respective divisions at this year’s Confetti Cup, which was showcased from Dec. 28-30 in Las Vegas.

The Jr. Kings’ 14U team (pictured) forged a perfect 4-0 record at the tournament, including a 5-2 victory over the New Mexico Warriors in the championship game.

Led by head coach Tony Rudy and assistant Berkley Hoagland, L.A. opened the event with an 8-0 victory over the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights on Friday before downing the New Mexico Warriors (4-1) and Jr. Golden Knights (8-0) on Saturday setting up its championship game rematch with New Mexico on Sunday.

Members of the team, which also celebrated the 14U A division title at September’s Jr. Kings-hosted Labor Day Festival, include: forwards Cameron Brodeur, Jesse Castro, Jionni Esposito, Fritz Heinzle, Jacob Jamani, Nolan Kawalec, Noel Mamber, Ezrah Porter and Tyler Stickney; defensemen Will Doiron, Adrien Duteil, Oliver Hackman, Mason Paschall and Peter Toumajian; and goaltenders Andrew Lim and Cathal O’Halloran McKeown.

The 12U AA2 squad fashioned a flawless 5-0 record in its division, including a 14-2 triumph over the Capital Thunder in the championship game.

The Jr. Kings, led by head coach Shawn Pitcher and assistant James Gasseau, began the tournament on Friday with victories over the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes (6-2) and Arizona Hockey Union (13-2) followed by a 13-0 win over the Tampa Bay Crunch on Saturday. The next day, the Jr. Kings bested the Jr. Coyotes, 8-2, in its semifinal setting up its title game matchup against the Thunder.

Members of the team include: forwards Matteo Alvarez, Austin Brock, Jake Brown, Sammie Ochoa, Cooper Soller, Tyus Sparks, Logan Stuart, Brady Witkin and Aidan Yu; defensemen Bobby Brock, Derek Brock, Chris Donell, Jacqueline Gasseau, Kevin Shi and Noah Sutton; and goaltenders Cristina Arellanes and Morgan Stickney.
