The Los Angeles Jr. Kings have announced the field and schedule for their upcoming Presidents’ Day Challenge Tournament, which will run from Feb. 15-18.
Thirty teams from Northern and Southern California, Alaska, Colorado, Utah and Washington, as well as Alberta and British Columbia, will compete in five divisions: 14U A; 12U AA and A; and 8U B-Gretzky and -Robitaille.
“We couldn’t be happier to welcome so many distinguished programs from around the Western U.S. and Canada for what promises to be a competitive and entertaining four days of hockey,” tournament director Brian McDonough said. “Having so many out-of-town teams participate is exciting for both our local clubs and our visitors.”
Division champions will be awarded a banner and trophy, and all players on the championship teams will receive medals. Players on the runner-up teams in each division will also receive medals.
Kings Cove and Grimaldi’s Pizzeria will serve as restaurant partners for the event, and PSE Event Housing successfully coordinated all hotel accommodations for out-of-town teams visiting over the weekend.
The Los Angeles Kings’ brand-new Off-Ice Training Center located inside Toyota Sports Center will also be available to all participating teams. Teams interested in scheduling a session should contact the facility’s director, Shawn Pitcher, at email@example.com and/or (424) 251-5995.
All 14U A and 12U AA and A games played at Toyota Sports Center will be streamed live via the Internet through LiveBarn.com.
The Presidents’ Day Challenge is part of the Jr. Kings’ Tinseltown Tournament Series. Pre-registration is now open for the Series’ final event of the 2018-19 season: the Carmen Starr Memorial Day Classic (May 24-27).
