The San Jose Barracuda has signed former Los Angeles Jr. King Evan Weinger to an AHL contract. This season, the El Segundo native is skating for the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings.

The Los Angeles Jr. Kings’ Pee Wee AA Minor team ended its season on a winning note, celebrating victory in the 12U AA division at this year’s Southern California Amateur Hockey Association Flight II Championships, which were played on March 3-4 at Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.

With the championships - coupled with the CAHA state titles won last month by the Jr. Kings at the 18U AAA, 16U AAA, 15U AAA and Bantam Major 03 levels - the organization staked claim to the unprecedented feat of winning every age division at the event in a single season.

The Los Angeles Jr. Kings’ Pee Wee AA1 team punched its ticket to the California Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) State Championships after advancing through 12U AA Tier II Playdowns, which were contested last weekend (Feb. 24-25) at The Rinks-Lakewood Ice.

Nathan Burke has committed to attend and play his NCAA Division I hockey at St. Cloud State University following his junior career. He skated with the Los Angeles Jr. Kings during the 2014-15 season as a member of the program’s 16U AAA team.

Former Los Angeles Jr. King Cayla Barnes won a gold medal as a member of the 2018 U.S. Women’s Olympic Ice Hockey Team after its 3-2 shootout victory over Canada in Wednesday’s gold-medal game played in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Thirty-nine teams from Northern and Southern California, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Washington competed in this year’s Los Angeles Jr. Kings-hosted Presidents’ Day Challenge Tournament, which was showcased from Feb. 16-19 at three Southern California rinks.
