Richie Leitner is a Southern California native from Los Alamitos. He grew up playing for Jeff Turcotte at the California Wave from Mites to Minor Midget, winning a Bantam AAA national championship in 2003.
He continued his career at the Junior A level playing for the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets in the USHL, as well as the Alaska Avalanche in the NAHL. In his final year of junior hockey, he received a scholarship to play Division I hockey at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
While competing at the collegiate level, Richie had the opportunity to play for Gary Wright. He was a Scholar Athlete all four years. After graduating in 2013, he went on to play professionally for one season with the Mississippi River Kings in the Southern Professional Hockey League. Since moving back to Southern California, he coached two seasons at the California Wave before transitioning to coaching 18AA with the Jr. Kings. He looks forward to joining a legendary coaching staff at the Jr. Kings organization.
